It's ridicules on one hand, admirable if one chooses to look at it from a different perspective – this Rammstein world tour. Or tour of the Worlds, if you will. Or maybe The Tour that Never ends. Anyway, the Rammstein Stadium Tour, that has started in 2019, is well into its 5th leg (with 2020 and 2021 tours off due to Covid-19 pandemic), with concerts all over Europe scheduled for spring and summer of 2024.
Rammstein is a rarity. Its only one of a handful of rock bands whose original members are still together, as 2024 marks its 30th anniversary. The band was established in Berlin in 1994 as what was later termed a Neue Deutsche Härte band – a mixture of heavy metal, new wave, punk-rock and vanguard. Its founding members – lead singer Till Lindemann, lead guitarist Richard Kruspe, rhythm guitarist Paul Landers, drummer Christoph Schneider, bassist Oliver Riedel and keyboardist Christian Lorenz - are still going strong today. And yes, they continue to sing in German, rather than turn to English right from the start, or once success came knocking. And after 30 years together, they still sound fresh and as powerful as in 1994.
Their first studio album was titled "Herzeleid" and was released in 1995. Commercial success was not overwhelming, but the band started to pick up popularity and a large fan-base aided by live concerts all over Europe.
Up to date, Rammstein has recorded 8 studio albums. The last, "Zeit" was released in 2022. It has sold over 10 million albums world-wide.
As for the never-ending Rammstein Stadium Tour – without taking into consideration the 5th leg of 2024, the band has played in front of 3.2 million fans, with gross revenue estimated to be 364 million dollars.
The 2024 Rammstein tour will kick off at the beginning on May in Prague and move on to Germany, Serbia, Greece, Spain, France, Nederlands, Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, Austria and Italy, before rounding up the tour (for now, at least) in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, at the end of May
